#well... almost paperless

ahem. You. I have a foxy request— her obsession with her kindle while she’s dating you, perhaps? You don’t want to go paperless, but Foxy keeps trying to convince you to get a kindle. She’ll hide your book and make comments like “but if you had a kindle” and teasingly roll her eyes, but it goes both ways? Maybe R is taller than her, so one day she takes emily’s kindle and holds it over her head and emily tries to get it back and R just keeps gently tapping her head with the kindle before holding it back up. Absolutely no pressure, this just sounded like smth down your alley?
brand deal II e.fox
“em?” you called out hesitantly, frowning as the majority of the lights were switched off in your apartment and you let yourself in. “emily?” you called again, hair pricking up on the back of your neck as you took a few cautious steps forward.
“where is she?” you mumbled with a frown, knowing she was in fact here given she’d called you about five minutes ago as you were pulling into the parking garage to check when you’d be home.
you settled a little as you flicked on the living room lights, hanging your bag up and shrugging off your puffer jacket. “you’re back!” you screamed and almost fell over at the new voice interrupting the thick silence.
“don’t do that!” you scowled at your girlfriend, kicking off your shoes as she made her way closer with a grin. “do what? say hi?” the brunette teased as your facial expression remained unamused.
“why were all the lights off you freak? i called out for you twice!” you defended, making your way into the kitchen to wash your hands.
having caught your neighbours practically pantsless in your buildings elevator the other day you’d made sure to thoroughly wash your hands every time you had to enter it since.
“well it was light outside when i started this chapter, and now…many chapters later, it’s dark.” emily shrugged in explanation as you gave her an odd look.
“you were reading…in the dark?” “yes." "do you have like some superhuman ability to see in the dark that you just never told me about?" "obviously?"
"oh well sorry i didn't realise i was dating a mutant!" you teased with a roll of your eyes, your girlfriend smiling in amusement. "you don't need the lights on to read on a kindle babe." the american revealed the truth as you rolled your eyes again but this time less playfully.
"you know if you had one-" "don't try to brand deal me fox, i know all your little tricks."
"no come on, don't be like that!" emily laughed at your obvious disdain as you moved to start rummaging through the fridge. "like what exactly?" you sighed, tapping your foot trying to magically conjure up what you were going to cook for dinner with your severe lack of groceries.
the two of you were going away for a few days since there wasn't a game this weekend for arsenal and the girls were given some time off, so you'd both put off buying anything which might perish while you were gone.
"like such a negative nelly." "you are so american sometimes its painful." "hey! you were living in the states by your own choice when we met, thank you."
"emily i truly believe that if it was put to you that you had to choose between being with me or never reading on that stupid thing again, you'd choose the kindle." you pivoted back to the original subject making the brunette chuckle.
"and if i said you might be correct?" she grinned teasingly as you pulled your head out of the fridge to shoot her an unimpressed glare in warning.
"joking, i'm joking! just using my delightful sense of humor that helped you fall so in love with me in the first place." your girlfriend smiled charmingly as you hummed and bit back a smile of your own.
"since we have no food, how about i take you and paige to dinner?" emily offered, leaning around you and snagging a half empty bowl of strawberries out of the fridge, pulling herself up to sit on the counter to pick at them.
"me and who?" you closed the fridge and turned to look at her with confusion, untwisting the cap on a bottle of water and taking a sip. "paige." emily echoed as you waited for her to elaborate which she never did, just smiling at you as if nothing was wrong.
"who is paige?" you sighed, sensing you likely weren't going to enjoy her answer as the grin on her face grew.
"my kindle." "you named that thing?" "yes and you'll call her accordingly!" the brunette pointed with a playful glare. "darling i would so sincerely rather stick toothpicks into my eyes than address your kindle as if its a living thing."
"paige, address paige as a living thing." "are you cheating on me with an e-book fox?" "well she doesn't argue with me and nag me about doing my laundry after a game." "emily!" "just joking, joking again! trying to make you laugh since you have the most musical laugh babe." "kiss my ass fox." "who sounds american now?"
~
your rivarly with 'paige' only got worse as time went on, specifically as you both checked into the hotel you'd be staying at over the weekend for your little getaway.
your girlfriend had at least not pulled her kindle out the entire flight, the two of you playing a few very spirited rounds of her favourite card game instead and catching up on a few episodes of community which she had you watching for the first time.
but no sooner had you both gone out for a lovely meal together and a walk around town, retiring to the room for a glass of wine and some downtime, did paige resurface and not in the way you were expecting.
"em did you repack my case?" you questioned, sat on your knees and rifling around with a frown as your girlfriend had already settled herself in bed with her kindle in her lap ready to go.
"yeah you said i could put my big grey coat in if it fit, remember?" your girlfriend reminded as you hummed, eyebrows furrowing as you hunted around for what you wanted but came up empty handed.
"what have you lost baby?" the defender questioned as you unpacked and repacked your case for the second time.
"my books. i packed three of them and i can't find them? and i know they were in here because i was texting with lia about the series last night as i packed." you huffed in annoyance, sitting back and glaring at your now messed up case as if they might make them magically appear.
"oh those? yeah they're at home." the american confirmed, sitting up and fluffing the pillow behind her as your head slowly turned. "they're what?" you asked slowly, unsure if you'd misheard her.
"they're at home." her fingers flew across the screen with a slick click clack as she typed in the password to the kindle, not even looking at you and missing the way your eyes narrowed toward her.
"as in...they're still in london. "well that is where we live." "why are they at home?" "i unpacked them, you didn't need them." "i don't need them?" "nope."
again you waited for her to expand a little, even clearing your throat as she glanced toward you with a smile and going back to her kindle. "emily why wouldn't i need them!" you stood now, moving to stand at the end of the bed with crossed arms and a scowl.
"well if you had a kindle, you could just download whatever books you want and carry an entire library in your bag instead, without the dead weight." "are you trying to market me again? i told you i am not buying one."
"you don't need to." your girlfriend shrugged as you scoffed and threw your hands up in the air. "why? because you could click your fingers and have one magically appear for free?" you jutted your hip out and raised an eyebrow.
"you know you look very hot when you're getting all mad and dramatic." the american grinned, successfully winding you up more. "where are you going?" your girlfriend laughed as you mumbled something under your breath and turned away, sitting down on an armchair to wrestle on some shoes.
"theres a gift shop downstairs and i'm going to buy a book since i don't fancy sitting here staring at the ceiling while you get to read all evening!" you huffed, grunting as you managed to wedge your feet into your trainers without undoing the laces.
"i told you, you don't need a book."
"actually i'm now going to go and find the heaviest book i can and hit you over the head with it!" you threatened, standing and making a beeline for the door, a rustle sounding behind you.
"emily." you groaned as her hand shot out over your shoulder and pushed the door back closed as you opened it. "come here please." the girl snapped the waistband of your pajama shorts and you let out a long and deep sigh before following her.
"here." the defender rummaged around in her own suitcase for a moment before grabbing out a box and shoving it into your hands. "see? no need for any books, you're welcome." she kissed your cheek and wandered back to the bed.
it didn't take you more than a millisecond to clock what the box was for, the brand name splashed across the front as you shook your head. "you kidnapped my books so you could force me into using a kindle?" you waved the box in your hand at the brunette who nodded.
"correct, and i already purchased and loaded those same three books and the two that come after it. again; you're welcome babe." "i didn't say thank you!" "i know, i'll be waiting."
"well you'll be waiting for a long, long time!" you huffed, dropping the box back on top of her pile of clothes in her case. "where are you going now!" emily asked with a frown as again you headed for the door.
"to buy a book. then maybe while i'm at it look a new girlfriend who likes the smell of the pages and cracking open a fresh new novel, the thrill of a dog eared corner and the hefty weight of the paper in your hands. someone who appreciates reading for what it is, not something done digitally!" you rambled out with a huff, hand on the doorknob.
"baby, you're being dramatic. come here and i'll read to you, you can even close your eyes and pretend its a book!" emily opened her arms expectantly as your gaze narrowed and her face lit up more as you took a few cautious steps toward her, stopping once you'd reached the side of the bed.
"come on babe its our first night on vacation lets not argue over something so silly, come cuddle." the american patted the space between her legs as you stared her down.
her features brightened yet again as you pushed her legs together and moved to straddle her lap, lips curling into a signature smirk. "actually, why waste time reading?" you breathed out, leaning in as your lips ghosted hers.
you leaned back slightly as the american surged forward, a smile on your face as a pout appeared on hers, kindle left on the nightstand beside her as one hand grabbed the back of your neck and the other your hip trying to pull you closer for a kiss.
however right as you leaned in to do just that within seconds your arm darted out and fingers grabbed at the smooth cold metal, snatching the kindle and swinging yourself off of her, headed again for the door.
"babe what the hell? where are you going now?" emily groaned, head thumping gently against the wall behind her watching you walk away with a frustrated frown.
"oh well since you insisted on bringing 'paige' on holiday with us, i figured why should she miss out on all the fun? so i'm gonna take her for a little evening swim!" "don't you dare." "oh yeah? watch me."
again within seconds as your hand gripped the doorknob you heard the covers go flying and feet hit the floor, the door barely opened a few centimeters before a body jumped onto you and your own slammed into the door closing it again.
"give her back!" "no! you have a problem you just called an inanimate object a her!" "i said give it!" emily grunted, arms wrapping around your neck and legs clutching at your hips as you held the kindle away from your body, stumbling backwards trying to keep your balance.
"oh my god you are addicted to this thing, you need help!" "i do not! you just don't understand the future." "oh i do, i know the future is looking awfully wet for paige!"
"em!" you squealed as she managed to pull you down onto the bed, crawling on top of you as you quickly wedged the kindle under your back and fought to push her off.
the two of you bickered back and forth as you grabbed her hands and got a knee loose, pushing her off of you and trying to flee again as her arm wrapped around your neck and her leg around your waist in an attempt at some sort of sleeper hold.
you had a couple of centimeters of height on her though and held the kindle just out of reach, using it to bonk her several times on the head to try and get her to let go of you to which she protested loudly.
after a few more minutes of struggle you almost rolled off the bed, yelping as strong hands grabbed you and using that to your advantage you managed to climb back on top of her.
"are we really fighting over a kindle?" you managed to press her arms to the bed with a grip on her wrists, her chest heaving beneath you and both your faces flushed rosy pink after the tussle.
"yeah, yeah we are." your girlfriend sighed, body going limp as a beat of silence passed before you both shared a look and suddenly you were rolling off of her, both your combined laughter filling the air as you clutched your stomachs.
"this is so stupid!" you managed out with a shake of your head. "i know." the defender agreed with a chuckle of her own, both of you taking a second to calm down again.
"truce?" you held a hand up in the air, her own coming to interlock and give it a firm shake. "truce, i love you."
"i love you too." you smiled, head turning to look as hers did the same, the two of you craning your necks to sweetly peck one anothers lips a few times with some giggles, your body rolling so you laid half on top of her, legs intertwining as her heart pounded beneath your eat that was pressed against her chest.
"one thing though?" "mm?" "paige is not allowed to sleep in the bed with us."

Froggie's (Almost) Very Productive Day
I try to fit as many out-and-about chores as possible into a single day so I only have one set of post-exertional malaise consequences instead of consequences after each day of doing a thing. So any time I decide to drive, I try to find several tasks to accomplish all at once.
My first stop was the Family Services Division in the hopes of getting some help with grocery bills. I am making ends meet, but it seems to be getting harder each month. And maybe I could have skipped my trip to Florida and saved that money, but if I don't do something drastic for my mental health, I fear this first holiday season without a parent could send me into the darkness.
I needed to do an interview to finish applying for SNAP. I wanted to do a phone interview, but the next appointment was in January. So I went to social services where they allow walk-in appointments. I waited in a tiny plastic chair for several hours until they called my name. She yelled out "Benjamin" because when most people see "Grelle" they aren't really sure how to say it. (Rhymes with belly.)
She started my interview and it was going swimmingly at first. But then she started asking questions about the house and my inheritance and my trust. I had no idea what to tell her. It feels like a mistake now, but I have had pretty much no involvement in that process. I have no idea how it works. And I started to panic because she was acting like I was committing fraud or something by not mentioning the trust. But the entire point of the trust was to protect my benefits. Nothing is mine. I own nothing. I have no access. But I had no idea how to explain that.
Maybe my lawyer can help me apply, but I did not want them investigating everything and screwing things up before we even have the estate through probate. We specifically hired a lawyer and went through this convoluted process to make sure everything was on the up and up. But she really made me feel like I was doing something wrong. And that made me panic, which probably made me look even more guilty of something. So I just canceled everything and left.
After a few hours in a crowded government office, I decided to head to a different crowded government office.
I know I didn't need it until 2025, but I decided to go ahead and get my Real ID thingie before my first flight. I was kind of hoping they'd retake my picture because my current driver's license is... well...

And I'm so glad they took my big terrible picture and made it into a smaller, more terrible picture.
People complain about the DMV, but the one near me runs like a machine. It was filled with people and I still only had a 10 minute wait time.
I'm starting to wonder if all of those 80s comedians who were all, "What's the deal with the DMV?" were exaggerating.
Good stuff, Jerry.
I head up to the counter and ask for a Real ID. She asks for two pieces of mail and my birth certificate.
And this disappointed me a little bit.
I did my research. I went to the Real ID website and used their interactive guide to figure out exactly which documents I would need. They gave me this entire checklist and I printed it out and went through all my records and mail trying to find everything.
I had to wait a week for my internet bill to come because it's the only thing I forgot to change to paperless. This took a lot of effort and I was ready to be validated for being so prepared.
And she asks for two pieces of mail.
Any mail.
So I was off to get new tires.

Driving around on 8 year old bald tires was giving me anxiety. I didn't have the money for new tires, but I remember the guy saying they had financing. Recently several of my past debts went past the statute of limitations, and so my credit score lifted itself out of the pits of "poor" and into the realm of "fair." So I decided to take a chance and apply for a Discount Tire credit card. It's a 6 month payment plan with no interest, so that didn't feel as predatory as all the credit card offers I get in the mail with 8000% interest.
We started going through the approval process and I was answering all of the questions and then I saw the name of the bank offering the credit. It was the same bank that tried to sue me and also the bank that can longer collect due to the statute. I was worried they put me on some sort of list and would deny me. But, to my surprise, they approved me instantly. And wouldn't you know it, they gave me almost exactly the amount needed for a new set of tires.
I'm hoping we'll be doing another auction of the house stuff soon, so I plan to pay off the card and then cancel it, but this was the only solution I could come up with to drive safely until then.
I was having a weird day where photos of crusty rich wide dudes followed me everywhere I went. Here is my good ol' boy governor at the entrance to social services.

And at the tire place, I noticed this fella...

Why does every rich CEO think they are a font of wisdom capable of creating compelling quotes?
Does he think no one has ever said "work hard" and "have fun"? And after he said this was he like...
"That's gold, put that in *every* store."
"Oh, and use that picture of me where it looks like a handsome gal just grabbed my undercarriage."
He probably thinks, "Well, no one has put these specific generic platitudes together into a single mega-platitude. I am a genius."
"Be honest, work hard, have fun, be grateful, pay it forward" sounds like he had a bunch of motivational posters on his wall and started reading them all at once.
Like, every line could have a picture of an eagle above it.

In any case, the guy at the tire store, Dakota, was really nice. He made the experience very low anxiety. And he really liked my Thor's Hammer keychain with built in fidget spinner.

He went around showing it to all his coworkers. "Look, it even spins!" And they were like, "Dude, where did you get that??" And I was like, "Amazon." Now I'm just imagining 10 dudes at a tire store all fidgeting their hammers.
As nice as he was, Dakota was still a salesman and had a job to do. He gave me two tire options and tried to upsell me. The cheapest tires had a "1" rating for winter. He said they get "super hard" in the cold... I tried not to giggle. But I explained I drive about twice a month and mostly to the grocery store. If it is a bad winter day, I'll just wait or get delivery. He understood and set me up with the cheaper tires.
He then checked out my car and noticed my tire pressure sensors were dying. I keep getting a warning light on my dash. Apparently they all have tiny batteries in them that die after 7 years. And you can't just replace the batteries so you have to install brand new sensors.
And this is where my social anxiety got me into trouble.
I don't actually need these sensors. They are usually inaccurate. I prefer to test my tires with an actual gauge. But I got so caught up in his sales pitch that I agreed to replace them... at $60 each. For that I could have gotten the fancier tires. I really don't care if an orange light shows up on my dash. And I looked up the price online and a pack of 4 is $30. Though that is without installation.
But still... I wasn't thinking and he was so nice that I was just like, "I want to please Dakota. Saying no might make Dakota sad." Dakota's job is selling me but that doesn't mean I have to buy anything. He would live if I had said "no thanks."
To make my blunder more blunderous, when they finished the tires he asked for my key fob. And it decided that was the time for the battery to die. And in order to reset the system for the new tire pressure sensors, you have to press two buttons on the fob for 7 seconds. Thankfully I had a spare fob at home, but if I want my fancy new $240 sensors to work, I have to return to Dakota and have him initialize them.
I really hope these are the Cadillac of sensors.
Or, like, the ones they use on Cadillacs?
They better be accurate, is what I'm saying.
I do feel safer with new tires. So I am glad I did that. And I gave them a good obligatory kick and felt the tread. They seem nice enough even if they get boners in the winter. It's crazy how bald my other tires were in comparison. Like, I can fit half my finger down into the tread on the new ones—which did not get them super hard.
The way I drive, I probably won't wear them down. They'll probably start to rot before I do.
Before I do, meaning before I wear them down.
Not before I rot.
I am not in a rotting competition with my tires.
I was then off to Sam's. I decided all of my hard work accomplishing 2 out of 3 goals deserved some sushi. So I grabbed some California Rolls and headed home. On my way out, a Hummer and a Porsche nearly collided in the parking lot. And they sort of got stuck facing each other. One of them needed to back up and they both signaled at each other like "You back up, I'm not backing up." And it was just this weird standoff between the two douchiest looking cars you could imagine.
I mean, you have to be a douche to drive a Hummer.
I still remember the mystery Hummer dialysis patient from when my dad was going 3 time per week. We could never figure out who owned the Hummer, but we knew it was not the underpaid nurses and techs. So it had to be one of the patients. And none of them seemed the type. We never solved that mystery.
That hummer started off a delightful safety yellow. (Elon would cry.)

They decided this wasn't extra enough... so they did this...

Katrina and I could never decide... are these cow spots or the world's least effective camoflauge?
There was another patient who drove this old beater...

And I loved seeing this car because we had the same one when I was a little kid. I'm afraid the aesthetics of the 1980s Caprice Classic did not stand the test of time, but it had great sentimental appeal for me.
But this maroon beast that squeaked and sputtered its way from here to there belonged to a very sweet older gentleman. Sometimes he and my dad would be dialysis buddies—sitting next to each other in the recliners. And the worst thing about dialysis was the boredom. All you have to do is watch broadcast TV with 4 channels.
All of the TVs require headphones. They give you your own set of super cheap headphones in the dialysis welcome bag. They were very uncomfortable so I ordered my dad better ones with cushioned ear cups.

His dialysis buddy noticed them and thought they looked nice. And then he revealed that his free headphones broke and he didn't know how to get new ones. He had been watching TV with no sound for weeks. So, I bought another pair with the soft ear cups and my dad gave them to his friend. And it just made me happy imagining the two of them watching The Price is Right in matching headphones.
I do have to make fun of this sweet old man a little bit. When I walked passed his car I noticed he implemented the world's most effective anti-theft device ever created.

That's right... The Club™.

If someone decides they have to have a 40 year old car with an engine that sounds like a dying hyena and a hubcap missing... they are out of luck.
But hey, you gotta protect what is important to you. And if I needed a getaway car and my choices were between his beater and the Cow Hummer, I'd take his ride for sure.
Well, I'd try... and then get arrested because The Club™ is undefeatable.
Do NOT look that up on YouTube. It's 100% true. (And the Lock Picking Lawyer doesn't count due to him being able to break into Fort Knox with a paperclip and then doing it again to make sure it isn't a fluke.)
The dialysis center is in the same complex as my local Tolerable Schnucks and I still see that maroon boat of a car every once in a while. I always smile whenever it is there because it lets me know he is hanging in there and hopefully still has sound for his TV.
Wow, I went off on a mega-tangent.
I didn't even finish talking about my day. Where was I? Oh, the douche standoff finally ended. The Porsche Douche capitulated and backed up. Probably due to the fact the Hummer Douche has 0 visibility behind him.
When I got home I started devouring my sushi. I finally heard back from my lawyer. He submitted the last of the evidence for my appeal. And I was finally able to confirm he got the records of my ECT treatments from 20 years ago. I worked so hard to get those. At first, they forgot to send all records before 2011. I had to call back and figure that out. They shipped them and they didn't arrive until a week before we had to file. Everything was so last minute and my anxiety has been... palpable. It felt like when I did my science fair project on Sunday night.
He's hoping to get a decision at the beginning of next year. He warned me that these appeals are usually rejected. And that the most effective method of approval was a hearing in front of an administrative law judge. But that could be delayed by up to a year. So I might need to figure out how to survive until 2025. As long as my brother does what he is legally required to do, I should be okay. But counting on that also gives me palpable anxiety.
And that was my day.
Every time I go out is always an adventure.
But remember...
BE NICE. EAT YOUR VEGGIES. PET CUTE DOGS. DREAM BIG. KEEP YOUR TIRES WARM... FOR REASONS. 5 LIFE LESSONS -Froggie, Mildly Famous Internet Person

Fivelaweek24: Day 6) I love you
My favorite scene from my fan fiction Survival. 🍓 @fivelaappreciationblog
--
Lila stood on the terrace of their apartment, enjoying the night view of the city. The part of the terrace behind her was also newly illuminated with strings of lights, giving the place an even more pleasant atmosphere.
Five approached her and placed a blanket over her shoulders, Lila looked up at him and smiled gratefully.
"This view is perfect..."
"It is," he agreed and he was looking at her.
"I think this is my favorite place."
"Really?"
"Yes!" She smiled and kissed him.
Five then took her hand and they went to sit under the shelter where the seating area was.
"Wow, are we celebrating something?"
There was a bowl of strawberries on the table and two glasses of champagne without alcohol.
"Just wanted to make you happy," he smiled and they toasted together.
Lila took the bowl of strawberries on her lap and talked while eating the strawberries, giving him some now and then, and Five watched her the whole time with a little bit of expectations.
Lila suddenly paused as she felt something that was definitely not a strawberry, looked into the bowl and pulled out a ring. She looked at Five in surprise.
He knelt down in front of her, looking like he had when he had given her the bracelet back then in their original greenhouse. He took the bowl and set it aside, then took her hand and smiled.
"Lila... my love..."
Lila could only stare at him, her heart racing.
"It might be a good time for me to ask you to marry me... but I'm not gonna do it... though a part of me would love to hear your yes... but I want you to know that if you wanted it that way, if it were possible, I would marry you right here and now... but at the same time, I would want you to decide for yourself, regardless of anything else. When you're divorced one day, I want it to be your decision if you ever want to be married again, or if you want to be single forever for that matter. To me, you're my wife either way, and I don't need any paper to prove it... I'll love and protect you as long as I live, and I'll be by your side as long as you want me. This ring is my promise that you will always be the most important person in my life."
Tears of happiness glistened in Lila's eyes and then she smiled brightly. It was exactly the smile that Five adored so much. It was the smile that made him smile too.
She leaned in to kiss him and then hugged him. And it was a very joyful and energetic hug. In fact, she almost jumped into his arms and, as he hadn't expected, they ended up on the floor, looked at each other and started laughing.
Lila looked at him, "this is perfect..."
"Yeah?"
Lila nodded her head and gave him a long kiss.
As they picked themselves up off the floor and sat back down on the couch, Lila looked at Five, "you know I love our paperless marriage... but that doesn't mean that if it grabs us one day that we don't decide from minute to minute to make it official... that I'd be against it. I don't want any planning... if it's going to happen, it's going to happen. Is that okay?"
"Totally."
"And you think I can wear the ring?"
"Well, of course, you can do whatever you want with it."
Lila put it in his hand and then held out her own hand for him to put it on. Five looked at her as he did so with that slightly cocky grin of his. Then he took her hand and kissed her on it. Lila smiled happily again and then took a good look at the ring for the first time.
The ring was white gold, and the ornamentation made the stone in the middle look like a strawberry, with a heart-shaped cut in a pinkish-purple hue.
"It's really beautiful! Thank you."
"I'm glad you like it."

Chapter Sixteen: Orders
The note that Lou slipped Hermann had only three lines.
Check the drafts.
MlKip80932210v.01
So Tendo drummed up a new-in-box cellphone from somewhere, and they logged into BlackMail.
BlackMail was an anonymous email client normally used in conjunction with Tor. Hermann knew a little bit about the so-called ‘darknet,’ but only due to another one of Newton’s rants.
Newton had been on his third day without sleep. Counterintuitively, the greater his sleep deprivation, the faster he seemed to move. By then, he was practically vibrating. His patter had grown so rapid, it seemed like only auctioneers should have been able to follow it, but Hermann somehow still remembered it almost verbatim.
“All you have to do is download a Tor browser, which is perfectly legal, in a read-the-fine-font sort of way. Tor is short for The Ogre Router, but it’s based on an older network called The Onion Router that the NSA dismantled in 2023.”
“The new Tor popped up practically overnight. I would say the NSA doesn’t know about it, but they probably shut down the old one because it was running too slow. This is the Too Much Information Age. Coke’s secret formula is no longer secret. KFC’s eleven original herbs and spices are old news. They added five more, which immediately went viral, in more ways than one. Not even the Illuminati can keep a secret these days.”
“You can buy or sell anything on the darknet if you have enough digitally laundered cryptocurrency. Remember that girl who tried to sell her kidney for the latest iPhone, then found out that wouldn’t be enough money and tried to sell the other one? The cops got there just in time? That was the Silk Superhighway. You can even hire an assassin. The Unicoder will make the hit look like a suicide for anyone who refers a friend.”
Eventually, Hermann had succeeded in convincing him to put down the scalpel and go to bed, but the rant had actually been rather fascinating. As Newton was so fond of saying, “The internet is a web of lies.”
Lou and Dierdre had left an email in the drafts folder. That was a trick commonly employed by BlackMailers. Anyone with account access could read the email without leaving behind an incriminating paperless trail.
The draft read:
Hey Hermann,
We’re trying to get assigned to Newt’s detail so we can bust him out. We need you to distract the Sec Gen and his security officers once we switch shifts. We’ll leave a new draft once it’s go time and another once we've got Newt.
Love,
Dierdre & Lou
P.S. It would be nice if we still had jobs after this, but it’s no big deal if we don’t. Lou’s old man isn’t really on dialysis. :P
If the PPDC fired Dierdre and Lou, Hermann was going to hire them personally. After all, it seemed Newton was in need of full-time security.
“They might not be able to time their shift change with the meeting,” said Raleigh, once they’d all stopped headbutting each other in an attempt to look at the same tiny screen.
They had decided to meet in the Jaeger Refuse Storage room this time. It was dark and cramped, but there was relatively little chance of covert listening devices.
“Do we need a backup distraction?” asked Tendo. “I make a mean trashcan fire. Lots of smoke, no collateral damage.”
“I think that's the first time a PPDC officer has said the words ‘no collateral damage’ in that order,” said Marshal Hansen, “but I get the feeling Secretary Krieger will want his own security officers present for this meeting. He was acting a bit troppo about it.”
“You know no one understands you when you start using Australian slang, sir,” said Tendo.
“I noticed that too, sir,” said Raleigh, at the same time. “It was strange how he changed the time and place like that. Do you think he’s going to try something?”
Marshal Hansen crossed his arms. “I would bloody well like to see him try and start something with me in my own Shatterdome.”
“That would be foolish at best,” agreed Hermann, “but I believe it’s a good sign that he changed the time and location of the meeting. It may have simply been another power play, but it’s also possible that he pushed back the meeting so his security detail would have time to return.”
“What about the location?” asked Mako.
“He wants to have the meeting in his own office, which indicates that he doesn’t want to risk surveillance,” said Hermann, "which in turn indicates that he may say something incriminating. Did you notice the item on his desk? That was a nonlinear junction detector. They're used to identify covert recording devices. I recognized it from the time Newton thought J Science was spying on us.”
“Say what?” asked Tendo.
Hermann waved his free hand dismissively. “Oh, he had been consuming some black market energy drinks from Japan, and I believe they were interfering with his medications. The point is that the Secretary General is apparently quite paranoid about being bugged.”
“I wonder why,” said Raleigh, in a voice dryer then the canteen’s chicken fricassee.
“So you are suggesting we oblige him?” asked Mako.
Marshal Hansen tapped a finger against his folded arms. “Well, we can’t let Lou and Dierdre have all the fun.”
“We will have to find a way to avoid detection,” she reminded him.
“Could the Marshal wear a wire?” asked Hermann.
“This is 2025,” said Tendo. “We use cellphones to spy on each other these days.”
“It's standard practice to turn in cellphones or even use signal jammers before classified meetings,” said Marshal Hansen. “That’s one of the reasons we all use Zoom. I guarantee you Secretary Krieger will insist on it, even if it’s just to scratch his own ego. I wouldn't be surprised if he patted me down too. You know, even Stacker used to complain about him?”
“If the Secretary General were to discover a recording device on your person, then you could potentially be charged with seditious conspiracy,” said Hermann.
“I have an idea,” said Mako, “but we'll need to bring some very specialized help.”

¶ … Wired Hospital In today's time, information technology has invaded almost, if not, all major industries around the world. There are a lot of things, machineries, equipments nowadays that are run by information technology. Good examples for these are (http://www.atis.org/tg2k/_information_technology.html,2006): Telephone and radio equipment and switches used for voice communications. Traditional computer applications that include data storage and programs to input, process, and output the data. Software and support for office automation systems such as word processing and spreadsheets, as well as the computer to run them. Users' PCs and software. Server hardware and software used to support applications such as electronic mail/groupware, file and print services, database, application / web servers, storage systems, and other hosting services. Data, voice, and video networks and all associated communications equipment and software. Peripherals directly connected to computer information systems used to collect or transmit audio, video or graphic information, such as scanners and digitizers. Voice response systems that interact with a computer database or application. The state radio communications network. Computers and network systems used by teachers, trainers, and students for educational purposes Open/integrated" computer systems that monitor or automate mechanical or chemical processes and also store information used by computer applications for analysis and decision-making, such as the Metasys building management system. These uses are the very reason why information technology has also been utilized in most hospitals. In fact, most hospitals nowadays, especially in the fully developed countries, are already 'wired'. This means that there are a number of hospitals which have found ways to improve the system through the use of information technology. In fact, there is one hospital which has been tagged as "100's Most Wired hospital." The said hospital has been using information technology to make a difference in patient and nurse safety. Hand-held personal computers for paperless charting, omnicell technology for medication dispensing, Vocera for communication among employees, wireless portable telemetry to monitor heart of the patients on 3 campuses from a centralized location and nurses' station and identity badges that allows the employees easy admission to selected within the hospital premises as well as the ability to charge meals or items in the cafeteria, gift shop or pharmacy are just some of the technologically integrated system in the said hospital. The public (such as the patients) and the medical professionals working in and out of this kind of hospital have already felt the impact of being with the "100's Most Wired Hospital." Positive Impacts of being "100's Most Wired Hospital" On Medical Errors There are a number of positive impacts in becoming one of the most wired hospitals. First is the efficacy of the services of the nurses, physicians and the even the administrators of the hospital. With the advent of information technology that is used in the hospitals, the frequency of medical errors lessened. Medical error is defined as "the failure to complete a planned action as intended or the use of a wrong plan to achieve an aim" (http://www.ahrq.gov/qual/errback.htm,2006). Most people believe that medical errors usually involve drugs, such as a patient getting the wrong prescription or dosage, or mishandled surgeries, such as amputation of the wrong limb. But aside from this alone, there are number of types of medical errors (http://www.ahrq.gov/qual/errback.htm,2006): Diagnostic error, such as misdiagnosis leading to an incorrect choice of therapy, failure to use an indicated diagnostic test, misinterpretation of test results, and failure to act on abnormal results. Equipment failure, such as defibrillators with dead batteries or intravenous pumps whose valves are easily dislodged or bumped, causing increased doses of medication over too short a period. Infections, such as nosocomial and post-surgical wound infections. Blood transfusion-related injuries, such as giving a patient the blood of the incorrect type. Misinterpretation of other medical orders, such as failing to give a patient a salt-free meal, as ordered by a physician. The have been reports indicating that as many as 44,000 to 98,000 people die in hospitals each year as the result of medical errors. About 7,000 people per year are estimated to die from medication errors alone -- about 16% more deaths than the number attributable to work-related injuries (http://www.ahrq.gov/qual/errback.htm,2006). Errors occur not only in hospitals but in other health care settings, such as physicians' offices, nursing homes, pharmacies, urgent care centers, and even care delivered in the home. Medical errors carry a high financial cost. In fact, medical errors cost approximately $37.6 billion each year; about $17 billion of those costs are associated with preventable errors. About half of the expenditures for preventable medical errors are for direct health care costs (http://www.ahrq.gov/qual/errback.htm,2006). When hospitals and other healthcare settings adopted the information technology systems, a significant reduction of the number of deaths and injuries caused by medical errors was achieved Some hospitals, medical groups, and other health care organizations have installed computer systems to manage patient information. Regular use of electronic health records gave health care providers and patients with immediate access to complete patient information as well as tools to guide decision-making and help prevent errors (http://www.ahrq.gov/qual/errback.htm,2006). Indeed, combining information technology and healthcare service proves to be beneficial to the healthcare system itself, to the patients and to the medical practitioners. Quality of care and patient safety has been linked to the advent of it related applications. Proofs are enough to show that the use of it integrated systems in the hospitals has significantly reduced a number of serious medication errors (Bates et al. 1998). On Public Trust Continuously decreasing medical errors consequently increases the public trust to the hospital and to the physicians within that hospital. It should be noted that the number of medical errors in each and every hospital will reach the awareness of the public. This in turn create confusion and even fear among the public and/.or the patients on which hospitals to go into or who among the doctors and nurses to trust with. The public are also informed about the minimal to zero results of medical errors of the most 'wired hospitals'. This of course encourages the patients and the entire public to see and visit the hospital and entrust their health conditions with the doctors and nurses of the said hospital. Ultimately, the patients have lesser worries about their medical conditions for they believe that they have entrusted their lives with the right institutions and to the right medical practitioners. Other perceptions of becoming among the most 'wired' hospitals include: Thinking about business and/or income, information technology presents a better image to clients (http://www.cica.org.uk/bre-cica_survey/ranking_of_it_benefits.htm,2006). Not all hospitals can finance and manage highly-technological systems. Hence, being able to maintain one can greatly attract more number of patients' attention. Even the highly noted physicians, nurses, midwives etc., would also want to work and get connected with such kind of hospital. Good and infamous medical practitioners working in a hospital with upgraded information technology systems is definitely a good way of establishing a better image for the hospital. It guarantees better quality product/service (http://www.cica.org.uk/bre-cica_survey/ranking_of_it_benefits.htm,2006). Fast and accurate service of the hospital administrators and medical practitioners working in the hospital are just some of the expectations of the hospital is among the 'most wired' hospitals. These are just natural for integrating it in the hospital system is aimed at providing better patient care at the right time and at the exact right manner. The people inside the hospital think that it in the hospitals offers a more effective means of external and internal communication (http://www.cica.org.uk/bre-cica_survey/ranking_of_it_benefits.htm,2006). Communication among the employees, doctors, nurses, anesthesiologists, surgeons, etc. is hard to maintain particularly in a busy environment such as the hospital. Everybody seems to be working 24/7. Everybody is always on call and on the go. But however busy the hospital is, communication among all the people involved in the day-to-day function of the hospital is a must. With the right gadgets and upgraded systems inside the hospital and among the personnel, communication is properly maintained. IT enhances access and sharing of information (http://www.cica.org.uk/bre-cica_survey/ranking_of_it_benefits.htm,2006). Everything is stored in a database. In just one click of a finger, and with proper access ID, all pertinent information regarding the patient, the healthcare management system among others can easily be downloaded and served as basis for further treatment and/or analysis. Medical practitioners feel that it can increase efficiency of task performance. It ensures efficient cycling of information, better integration of information and tasks, reduction in the number of errors and improvement in the management control (http://www.cica.org.uk/bre-cica_survey/ranking_of_it_benefits.htm,2006). This is because with an advanced system, analysis/design evaluation, exploration of alternatives, information control is also improved. Moreover, imposing order and implementing standards is easily done through the combination of it and hospital management (http://www.cica.org.uk/bre-cica_survey/ranking_of_it_benefits.htm,2006). Negative Impacts of being "100's Most Wired Hospital" On Administrators' and Medical Practitioners' Compliance It must be noted that being 'wired' would mean that the administrators and the medical professionals (such as the nurses, the physicians, etc.) needs to equip themselves with the technology. They had to attend seminars and workshops to be trained. They had to study on their extra hours to get acquainted with the new and upgraded hospital systems. This is exactly where the problem usually starts. There are a number of reports published which revealed that even the physicians are not so keen into attending more seminars and trainings to learn the new systems (Ball, 1992). Physicians are expectedly always busy. They sometimes work from hospital to hospital. They are always on call hence they really find it hard to squeeze in their thigh schedule the time for further training and semi-are regarding the system. At some point in time, physicians will also worry about their income that will be affected if they will get a time off just to attend the training. In the same manner, most of the administrators, who will manage the new systems for the hospitals, also show signs of hesitance regarding the training. It must be noted that the being considered as a 'wired hospital' the institution must have uniform data standards (Aspden et al. 2003). Such standards are hard to maintain. It requires expertise and patience among the facilitators. It requires good communication within the administrators, the patients and the physicians and nurses. This are the very reason why the facilitators need to adapt themselves with the system, hence it will not work properly. On Hospitals' Finance Performance Medical efficacy, patient safety and trust have been put to good use since information technology penetrated most of the hospitals. However, hospitals who have adopted the information technology systems do not benefit fully when it comes to financial outcomes. Upgrading the system or utilizing information technology as part of the hospital procedures requires good sum of money. Needless to say, the management needs to have high investment costs of information technology and this is the biggest barrier preventing good financial outcome of the hospital (Blair and Hilts 2003; Erstad 2003; Johnson 2001). Installing the new systems and training all the possible users plus providing all the gadgets and maintaining them are just part of being 'wired' and considered as a highly-technological hospital. But these all require money and investment. Despite the high investment cost, most 'wired' hospitals do not achieve good return on investment. It has always been a problem that the money consumed in being a 'wired' hospital is always greater than what the hospital has been actually earning. Conclusion Being tagged as "100's Most Wired Hospital" has its ups and downs. When it comes to maintaining quality patient care and establishing a good name of the hospital as an institution, unquestionable, maintaining an integrated it system is the best course of action. However, when it comes to financial aspects and compliance among the intended users, the hospital itself could be facing a tremendous setback. But in the end, what matters most is how the hospital lived up to its goal of taking care of the sick. Works Cited Aspden, P., J.M. Corrigan, J. Wolcott, and S.M. Erickson. 2003. Pay EMIs on time: Avoid penalties and maintain your credit score.
Avoid multiple loans: Too many open loans can hurt your credit profile.
Check all terms carefully: Understand interest rates, tenure, and charges upfront.
Being disciplined with your personal loan ensures that it serves as a helpful financial tool rather than a burden.
Customer Stories: Real People, Real Benefits
Take the example of Arjun, a 35-year-old from Pune, who used a Bajaj Finserv personal loan to cover his daughter’s medical treatment. The funds were disbursed within a day, giving him the peace of mind to focus on her recovery.
Or consider Maya, a freelance designer from Delhi, who took a personal loan to upgrade her home office and equipment. The new setup helped her attract more clients and double her income within months.
These stories show how the right financial support at the right time can truly empower people.
Conclusion: Is a Bajaj Finserv Personal Loan Right for You?
If you’re looking for a financing solution that’s quick, reliable, and tailored to your needs, a Bajaj Finserv personal loan is definitely worth considering. Whether it’s for a life milestone or an unexpected situation, this loan offers the flexibility, convenience, and speed that modern borrowers need.
With transparent terms, fast approval, and minimal hassle, Bajaj Finserv makes the borrowing experience smooth and stress-free. For anyone in search of a dependable personal loan, this could be the perfect match.

Preparing a Freesewing pattern for laser cutting using Inkscape
I don't really know the best place to put this but i figured a tumblr post would at least be mobile-friendly and easier to move once I do know lmao.
Other vector editors will work, but Inkscape is free and open source, and even if the software updates and changes, you will still be able to download version 1.4, which I wrote this tutorial using, so you can still follow along. It will also work on Windows, Mac, and most Linux distributions.
This tutorial assumes a basic familiarity with your specific laser. I have a very cheap Creality Falcon 5w laser with no safety features at all, so I always cut in a ventilated space that pets and people cannot access easily and wear a respirator and eye protection.
This was written with LightBurn as the intended output program for your laser. I strongly recommend at least giving the Lightburn trial a shot. It's expensive at $99 but you only pay for it once-- Linux support will be dropped after version 1.7, but even that version is still very robust. The Perforation Mode setting is what I use to mark where seams go, so if you don't need this, you can skip almost everything that mentions the seam line.
Those who already have familiarity with generating FreeSewing patterns can skip to step 4.
Dial in your FreeSewing measurements. Before you start a full project in FreeSewing, you should always make sure your measurements are correct. Think of FreeSewing less like a pattern website and more like a giant calculator. You're drafting from scratch every time, not using well-tested ready-to-wear patterns, so you need to approach this like drafting (just without all the math and specialty rulers). Generate something quick and fitted-- titan for checking pants, a very basic sven for your torso and sleeves, bella or noble for tight fits to the torso. Use paperless mode to cut them out of butcher paper or print them out for a quick tape up, and adjust if necessary. Then do a draft cut out of old sheets, clearance bin fabric, or whatever you can find at the thrift store, using pins as closures. I also strongly, strongly recommend asking in the FreeSewing discord's #need-help channel if you have any questions at all, even if it's just for a quick sanity check, BEFORE you get frustrated. The community is extremely helpful and kind and the original designers of patterns tend to be active members. Once your measurements are right, you'll be able to do a tape-up and then a cheap-fabric-draft of the design you want.
Pick a design and adjust Core Settings. For this project, I'm going to be using yuri since it's got a lot going on. As a laser user, the very first thing you'll want to do is make sure that your User Experience option is set to "Give Me All Powers, But Keep Me Safe". Once that's done, you'll be able to open up the Core Settings options.
Change the "Include Seam Allowance" option to "Yes." This will cause the "Seam Allowance Size" option to appear. Change this to your desired seam allowance. Since I am sewing for dolls, I use a 6mm (roughly 1/4") seam allowance. If you prefer imperial, there's a "Units" option a little further down. Selecting the "Paperless" option will display key measurements in your selected units. Checking your physical body against these measurements will help make sure the pattern you're about to cut will fit correctly. Disabling the "Details" option can be useful for laser cutting later, but for now leave it set to "Yes." The "Expand" option is only used in a few patterns, but if you're doing 100% of your cutting on the laser, you'll need it set to "yes." Since I am sewing for dolls, I also need the "Scale" setting to be lowered. This does not affect the pattern pieces, but it makes the text smaller so that it's easier to read.
3. Adjust your style choices. Increasing the Ease on a pattern will make it looser-- FreeSewing tends to skew towards a very custom fit, but if you're used to Ready-To-Wear clothing you may prefer things to be looser. If you ever feel like the pattern looks weird, you can use the cloud button on the left to save all your adjustments, and then generate a new pattern using one of FreeSewing's curated measurement sets.
People tend to be shaped very differently so things might not be as strange as you think.
4. Export to Inkscape. Once you're done and checked everything, use the Download button on the left to Export the pattern. You'll get a list of options. Under "Export for Editing," click the "SVG" button.
An .svg file will download. If you're making a yuri, the file will just be called "Freesewing-yuri.svg" so take the time right now to rename this file to something more descriptive, then open the file in Inkscape.
5. Set up your inkscape work area.
Once in Inkscape, you can use your scroll wheel or use a pinch gesture on your track pad to zoom in and out. We're mostly going to be making use of the right-hand panel. Use the two dots on the outer edge of this panel to expand it out a bit, then use the down arrow in the upper right-hand corner of the panel to make sure you have tabs for "Layers and Objects," "Fill and Stroke," and "Path Effects" visible. Then, go to Edit>Preferences>Behavior>Steps.
Set the "Inset/Outset by:" setting to half of your FreeSewing seam allowance. My seam allowance is 6mm, so I set this to 3mm.
6. Orient pieces with the grain line going the same way. Don't worry yet about whether pieces will fit on your laser bed-- this step simply eliminates the need for the grain line marker and will make that step easier when we get to it. For yuri, the only piece with a grainline that isn't vertical by default is the hoodCenter part. Select the "Layers and Objects" tab and expand the "fs-container" Group. Then, from the list, click on "fs-stack-yuri.hoodCenter" part-- this will select the part, popping up arrows that will allow you to stretch the part. We don't want to stretch it, so click on the part itself-- any of the lines or text will do-- which will change the selection box to have curved arrows at the corners.
We want to make sure we're rotating at clean angles, so hold down the ALT key while clicking and holding one of the curved arrows and dragging it until the piece is fully rotated. By default, the ALT key will snap to 15 degree angles, unless you changed this in step 5.
7. Clean up each pattern piece. Select the "Layers and Objects" tab and expand all the Groups in this window. Decide on a piece to start with and click on its Group. This will select the object and make it easy to find so you can zoom in. Select each object inside the group to find them and determine what they are
7a. Delete the grain line by selecting it either in the document or in the Layers and Objects window and pressing the Delete key. This is usually but not always the first Line object in the group (in the above screenshot, it's "fs-11"). Select it first to find it and make sure you're deleting the right thing.
7b. Next, we need to delete all the text, but there's sometimes important information there. Zoom in on the text to read the cut instructions.
You can then double-click on the part's Group name to rename it, and add the cut instructions into the group name. The Group name is only for your benefit, so you can also clean up the "fs-stack-yuri." prefix if you like. Once that's done, select all the text layers and delete them.
7c. Delete the FreeSewing logo and the two boxes for checking scale that appear on some larger pieces. Save your document after cleaning each piece!
8. Prep your cut and perforation lines. Doing this now instead of at the end will make transferring marks easier and more accurate. The purpose of this step is to get your file ready for transfer into LightBurn. By default, LightBurn will try to honor any Layers set in your svg document, but FreeSewing has these nicely laid out Groups that are already well-organized, and we want to be able to keep each seam line attached to its cut line, so we're going to fall back to LightBurn's backup method of determining layer, which is by line color.
8a. Pick a piece to start with that you'll base all your other pieces off of. Select the dashed line. This is the line we're going to want to cut along. LightBurn has thirty different colors it can use as layers and store different cut settings in. I tend to leave Layer 00 black open for testing materials, so I store my perforation data for fabric on Layer 01 blue and my cut data for fabric on Layer 02 red. These are arbitrary and you can pick any of the thirty layers you want for this by using a close enough color.
8b. Select your cut line. This will be the outermost line, and by default FreeSewing makes this a dotted line. Then, click on the "Fill and Stroke" tab. There will now be three sub-tabs underneath this. You shouldn't need the Fill sub-tab as it will already be set to "no fill." The "Stroke Paint" sub-tab should be set to "flat color" in the upper left corner. Below, you'll have a robust color picker with options to switch into cmyk or rgb mode, as well as an option to open a color wheel if you prefer. You just need to get it close enough to the layer color you're using in LightBurn. The HSL values in this screenshot will always map to Layer 02 red.
Optionally, select the "Stroke style" sub-tab and change the "dashes" drop-down to a solid line. LightBurn cannot differentiate between solid and dotted lines and discards that data, so this is purely a personal choice.
8c. Repeat step 8b with a different color for the seam line. This will be the inner line on a part, and by default FreeSewing makes this a solid line. Choose a strong blue color (such as HSL value 240,100,50,100) to map to Layer 01 blue.
If you're having trouble selecting lines, it might be helpful to use the Node tool, which is right below the select tool on the toolbar. The default shortcut key is N.
It may be easier to select individual lines between different Groups with this tool.
8d. Apply this same line styling to all your other pieces. Inkscape includes a way to do this very quickly. Start by selecting your colored seam line and press CTRL+C to copy it. Then, select the seam line on another piece and press CTRL+SHIFT+V to paste only the line styling. Repeat with all other seam lines, then go back to the cut line and press CTRL+C to copy that and CTRL+SHIFT+V to paste the styling to all the other cut lines. Save your progress.
9. Add stitch guides for hems. This entire step is optional, but I prefer to have it, and you may find the techniques shown to be useful. Select the stitch line of a piece that has a hem, such as a sleeve, and press CTRL+D to duplicate it. Then, click on Path>Inset. This will move the duplicate inside your seam line by half your seam allowance if you set your Inset/Outset correctly in step 5.
9a. We only want to keep one segment of this line, in our case the one parallel to the cuff. Switch to the Node tool and select the far right-most point of the line you want to keep. From the Node tool's ribbon, click "Break path at selected node," then press the Delete key.
This should delete the part of the line past the one we want to keep. If it does not, press ctrl+z and manually click on the point again and press Delete one more time. Keep deleting nodes until only the line we want is left.
9b. Switch back to the Select tool. Hold down Shift and use one of the horizontal arrows-- not the diagonals-- to stretch the line out to the cut line.
9c. Use the same method as in 9a to delete the line that marks the bottom edge of the garment. This lines up exactly with where the edges of the hem start to taper inward, so you can recreate this line after cutting by simply folding from one corner to the other.
You can also use this method to shorten the amount of fabric in the hem. By default, FreeSewing puts three times your seam allowance in the hem, meaning your final hem folds up into four layers of fabric. This can be way too much for things like dolls or when using very thick fabric, or if you want to finish with a binding or facing instead of a hem.
10. Transfer any notches. There are a couple of different ways to do this, the simplest of which is to print out a copy of the pattern, cut out the piece along the seam line, and then fold or cut the pattern piece as needed to create templates you can trace onto your fabric with chalk or a frixion pen. However, you can also get away with doing most of it paperlessly. In yuri, the sleeve piece has two separate notches, which you can see better by zooming in:
Select the Star/Polygon tool from the toolbar on the left or by pressing * and use the following settings in polygon mode:
This will generate a triangle. Place one that's about the size of the notch marker, then switch back to the Select tool by clicking its icon or pressing S, and move it so that it's centered over the notch, and rotate it so that it's pointing outward toward the cut line. Don't worry about the line style, it won't matter.
Slide the triangle in the direction it's pointing until it's sticking out of the cut line. It doesn't have to be precise.
With the triangle still selected, hold down Shift and select the cut line. Both objects should now be selected. Go to Path>Union at the top of the screen, or press the CTRL key and the + key (or CTRL+SHIFT+=) to merge the two. The triangle should take on the style of the cut line if it doesn't already have it. Save your progress.
The other notch is marked differently to indicate that it needs to be distinct from the first notch. To do this, simply add another triangle and continue holding shift while selecting it include it in the Union.
You can see in the above screenshot that these are not perfectly lined up. This is fine, as these sleeve cap notches don't need to match up perfectly with the arm holes; they are just to indicate which side of the sleeve cap touches the front of the jacket, and which side touches the back. Other patterns may have similar needs, so plan accordingly after reviewing the pattern's instructions. Once your notches are marked in the seam allowance, you can delete the originals. Save your progress.
11. Add any other marks. Try using a circle or a dovetail, or an inverted notch cut into the seam allowance for marking things like stitching or gathering stop/start points. Remember that anything in blue will be done in perforation mode, so you can even try adding things like letters in the seam allowance. Buttonholes will be cut open after they're sewn, so you can safely use a perforated line to mark where those go. If you're cutting scrap fabric for a rough draft, there's nothing stopping you from using perforations for every single pattern marking. Save your progress.
12. Unfold any pieces cut on the fold. While it's possible to line up pieces on a laser cutter on a fold by simply cutting a marker line on your base, lining the fold up against it, lining up all your pieces along that line in LightBurn, and then excluding the line from the final cut, it's a lot more precise to have these pieces unfolded. Make sure this is the very last edit you make! Inkscape's Live Path Effects feature makes this whole process very quick.
12a. Select the cut line in the Layers and Objects tab, then open the Path Effects tab. From the drop down, select Mirror Symmetry.
12b. By default, the piece will be mirrored as if flipped along the highest X coordinate of the piece. FreeSewing always puts the fold on the left, or at X coordinate zero, so it will appear backwards.
To fix this, simply set the X value of both the start and end points of the mirror line to 0. The default values are automatically generated, but if you get stuck, you can also get the correct result by changing the Start point's Y coordinate to zero, and the End point's Y coordinate to 1.
12c. Once the piece is correctly mirrored, check both the "Fuse opposite sides" and "Fuse paths" boxes to erase the center line. If the center line is still present, increment both X values by 0.01 until it disappears. Then, from the drop down in the upper right corner next to the trash can icon, select "flatten" to merge the two into one continuous path. Save your progress. Repeat this process with the seam line.
13. Lay out your pieces. At this point, we can be done in Inkscape, and the .svg file can be imported into LightBurn. However, you can do all of your layout work ahead of time in inkscape so that there is no work to be done after importing.
13a. Set your document size to your laser's bed size. Go to File>Document Properties or press Shift+Ctrl+D to change the document's width and height. At this point, you may want to save an extra copy of your document so that you can prepare multiple layouts if not all of your pieces will fit on your bed at the same time.
13b. Read through the pattern's Cutting Instructions on FreeSewing to make sure you're cutting the correct quantities. To cut multiples of a piece, first select the highest level Group of the piece you want to duplicate to make sure all parts of it are selected, then press CTRL+D to duplicate it. Use the Select tool to drag the duplicate out from under the original.
To create a Mirrored version of a duplicate, press M to flip the selected object horizontally. Make sure that you remove any marks that shouldn't be duplicated-- in yuri, the button hole only goes on one of the two front pieces.
13c. Rotate and move your parts to fit them inside the laser's cutting area and reduce fabric waste as best as you can. Remember that we already arranged the pieces with the grain line running the same way, so make sure any rotations are done by 90 degree increments for normal wovens, and 180 degrees for stripes. If your fabric has a clear right-way-up, you may not want to rotate any parts at all. Save your progress.
14. Save as an .svg, and import into LightBurn.

Apply For an Instant Personal Loan
Applying for a personal loan is an ideal way to cover unexpected expenses, pay off debt or make a big-ticket purchase. However, you should take the time to review rates, terms and fees before applying.
Having good credit can help you get a personal loan with lower interest rates. To improve your chances of approval, consider paying off debt and establishing auto payments.
Getting a loan
If you need quick cash, a personal loan might be a good option for you. These loans are easy to apply for and can be disbursed within a day or two. They’re also generally cheaper than credit cards, saving you money in the long run. However, you should research all your options before applying for one of these loans. You should also make sure that you’re able to pay back the loan within a reasonable amount of time.
Many people need financial assistance to cover unexpected expenses. The best way to get a short-term loan is to use an online lender. These lenders offer an online application process that’s convenient and secure, and you can often be approved for a loan in minutes. In addition, you can also use a mobile app to make your loan payments.
Another option is to apply for a payday loan. These loans are designed to help salaried employees during times of need. Unlike other types of short-term loans, these payday loans don’t require a guarantor or credit check. They can be applied for online or in person, and the funds can be deposited into your account quickly.
ATD Money is an online microfinance company that offers a variety of loan products to meet the needs of salaried individuals in India. Their loan products include payday and salary advance loans, as well as other microfinance solutions. The company is a reliable, reputable lender and works within the law to provide its customers with a safe and flexible lending experience.

Whether you need a small loan to help with an emergency expense or a large loan for a major purchase, choosing the right type of lender is important. There are many different kinds of lenders in the marketplace, and each has its unique terms and conditions. Choosing the best lender for your specific needs will help you avoid paying unnecessary fees and interest.
Several FinTech companies have emerged to solve this problem, and they do so by providing instant cash to the working class. A renowned FinTech company ‘ATD Finance’ with their app ‘ATD Money’ has come up with an innovative solution to tackle the mid-month financial crunch of corporate sector employees by providing them with advance salary support in the form of an instant.
Application process
In this era of information, you can find almost anything on the Internet, including information about different types of personal loans. This type of loan is a lump sum of money that you can use for any purpose. However, you must pay it back, usually in monthly instalments over several years. The amount of the loan and the interest rate are decided by the lender after considering various factors, including your credit score and income.
An instant personal loan can be a great option for those who need quick funding to meet financial obligations or fund their next big project. These loans are usually unsecured and can be obtained from a variety of lenders, including online financial institutions and loan apps. Many of these services allow you to check rates and loan limits before applying, so you can get an idea of what to expect.
The process of applying for an instant personal loan is relatively simple, with some lenders even offering paperless applications and the option to submit soft copies of documents. Most lenders also offer flexible loan tenures, which allow you to choose a repayment period that suits your financial capabilities. However, it’s important to note that the faster you pay off your loan, the more money you’ll save in interest charges.
Once your application is approved, the lender will send you a sanction letter with all the terms and conditions of the loan. It’s important to read these documents carefully before agreeing to them. In addition to the interest rate and repayment period, you should also consider any additional fees or penalties that may apply.
You should always check the lender’s reputation before you apply for a loan. A reputable lender will operate within the law and have an excellent customer service team that can answer any questions you might have. Lastly, be sure to maintain a good credit score by paying bills on time and keeping credit card balances low. This will help you save money on interest and make your loan payments more affordable.
Interest rates
When applying for a personal loan, it is important to compare the interest rates of different lenders. This will help you determine which lender has the best rate for your situation. Also, make sure you understand the terms and conditions of the loan before making a decision. It would help if you also considered whether you want a long or short-term repayment term, as this will affect the amount of total interest that you pay.
Instant loans are short-term loans that are typically used to cover emergency expenses or fund a personal project. They are usually repaid in a few business days, which makes them a good option for people who need money quickly. However, the cost of these loans can be high, so you should always consider your options before taking out an instant loan.
Many online lenders offer instant personal loans, which are processed and disbursed within minutes. These loans are often based on your credit history and income. Some lenders even check your credit score before disbursing the loan, which allows them to assess whether you can afford to repay the loan.
Some lenders may charge fees when you apply for an instant personal loan, which can increase the cost of the loan. Moreover, you should only take out an instant personal loan if it is needed for an emergency and you can afford to repay the loan in full. In addition, you should be aware that instant loans can damage your credit rating if you fail to repay the debt on time.
In the era of information technology, most financial services providers have their portals where they have uploaded all the details regarding their products like Insta personal loans. These details include loan eligibility, required documents and interest rates. Therefore, borrowers can easily choose the right product that suits them according to their requirements and budget.
ATD Money is an Indian microfinance company that provides financial assistance to citizens. It offers a variety of loan products and works within the law to ensure that customers are treated fairly. It also has a customer-friendly mobile application and website. Its website features a comprehensive list of loan products, including payday loans and salary loans.
Repayment period
An instant personal loan is a type of short-term financing that can be used for a variety of purposes. These loans are available from financial institutions, online lenders, and digital lending platforms. The loan process is streamlined and convenient, but it is important to understand the fees and interest rates associated with this type of financing. These can have a significant impact on your finances in the long run.
The application process for an instant personal loan is largely the same as that of a traditional personal loan, although you may need to provide additional documentation such as proof of income and other supporting documents. You should also be sure to review your finances and make sure that you can afford the monthly payments. Depending on the lender, you may be able to borrow up to $50,000 with an instant personal loan.
Once you’ve completed the application process, you’ll need to wait for the funds to be transferred to your bank account. This may take a few days, depending on the lender and your bank. However, if you’re approved for an instant personal loan, the funds will be transferred quickly.
Instant personal loans are popular among borrowers for several reasons. They can be used to pay for medical emergencies, cover unforeseen expenses, or even consolidate multiple credit card debts into a single EMI. In addition, these loans offer competitive interest rates and minimal documentation. The main drawback is the limited choice of lenders that offer this type of financing.
In addition, these types of loans are not guaranteed by any government agency and are therefore considered high-risk financing. Because of this, they typically come with a higher interest rate than conventional personal loans. However, some lenders offer low-interest rates for customers with good credit scores.
Another benefit of instant personal loans is that they are completely online and can be completed within minutes. In contrast, traditional personal loans are often processed more slowly and require more paperwork. In addition, the complete online application process makes it easier to protect your personal information. This is because your data will not be transmitted to unauthorized third parties, as it would be in the case of a paper application.

Top Benefits of Using AEPS for Financial Transactions
In a time of technological advances and digital revolutions the financial industry has witnessed a shift to ease of use and accessibility. One of the most recent innovations that have changed the way that financial transactions are conducted, particularly in India and the country of its origin, can be described as an innovation called the Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AEPS). AEPS is a safe and user-friendly system that makes use of the Aadhaar network to allow many financial transactions. Let's take a look at the main advantages of using AEPS for financial transactions.
Accessible banking: AEPS has played an important role in the promotion of financial inclusion. It allows people living who live in areas that are remote and unserved to gain access to banking services without having to visit physical branches of banks. With only their Aadhaar number and fingerprint even those who do not have traditional bank accounts can make transactions like cash withdrawals inquiring about balances, cash withdrawals, and transfer of funds.
Security Security is essential in the realm of finance. AEPS employs biometric authentication, which ensures that transactions are safe and almost impossible to fake. Biometric authentication provides an additional layer of protection in comparison to conventional PIN-based systems, reducing the possibility of fraud as well as identity theft.
Convenience AEPS removes the requirement for traditional debit card or passbook or even access to the internet. This is extremely practical for people, particularly in rural areas that might not have access to these facilities. All they require is an Aadhaar number and fingerprints for financial transactions, which makes it easy.
Cost-effective Traditional banking can be expensive, and there are charges to ATM withdraws as well as balance inquiry. AEPS transactions are usually cheaper both for the customer and banks as it lowers the costs related to maintaining physical infrastructure.
Eco-friendly and paperless AEPS encourages an environment that is paper-free by eliminating the requirement for paper-based transactions and documents. This helps create a more sustainable banking system, while reducing the environmental impact that comes with traditional banking procedures.
government initiatives This includes: Indian government has been actively promoting using AEPS as a part the efforts it has made to improve financial inclusion and decrease cash transactions. Different welfare schemes and subsidy programs are currently directly credited to beneficiaries' accounts in the form of AEPS which ensures that the money is able to reach recipients in a timely manner.
Real-time transactions The transactions processed in AEPS happen in real time meaning that users have access to their funds and process transactions in a matter of minutes. This is particularly useful in times of emergency or when immediate access to funds are essential.
Simple Account Linking Linking Aadhaar to the bank account is an easy process and is accessible to many people. Once linked, users are able to complete AEPS transactions without difficulty.
Interoperability AEPS can be interoperable with a variety of financial institutions and banks and allows users to access their accounts and make transactions in various business correspondents of banks (BC) branches. This means that customers aren't restricted to one specific branch of the bank.
In the end it is clear that it is clear that the Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AEPS) is an important game changer for the Indian financial sector. Its ability to offer a wide range of affordable, safe, and easy banking is a popular option for millions of customers particularly those living in rural regions. As the world is continuing to embrace digital innovation, AEPS stands as a shining example of how technology can help bridge the gap between conventional banking services and the financial sector, enhancing the lives of millions of people across India.

Quick aside: Although MAGA didn't exist in name prior to Donald Trump's political presence, the conservative radicals that welcomed him with open arms had been there all along, just under differing monikers...
Skip ahead if you like; otherwise, for reference on what I originally stated:
Judge Aileen Cannon has not issued an actionable, appealable order in the Mar-a-Lago Classified Documents case since 2022! That is EXTREMELY unusual. It's unprecedented in it's scope. And she seems to be intentionally oblivious to these ethically suspect - and, at times, decidedly flawed - actions of hers...
For those that don't know, Judge Cannon has been using ONLY "paperless" scheduling orders - which to this point have been regarded as unappealable - to maintain the appearance of keeping the case moving. However, there doesn't appear to be a threshold measure for her very curious actions, and the case may soon be heading into "fuck around and find out" territory in that regard...
For me, personally, for daily legal information on the case, almost live as it happens, I've found Michael Popok to be an EXTREMELY level-headed and reliable source for all such analysis, "full stop." The excitable Ben Meiselas, too, will leave you smarter than you were after watching his legal takes as well. Head to The Meidas Touch Network via YouTube to see both in action...

Brace yourself for a coup in Brazil
‘Jail, death or victory.’ These are the three alternatives Brazil’s incumbent leader says await him. It is an unusual rallying call for an election campaign, but this is Jair Bolsonaro, the ‘Trump of the Tropics’, and he may well be right. Bolsonaro was elected in 2018 when his initial rival, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the country’s former president, was jailed midway through the campaign on corruption charges. Bolsonaro, a relative unknown, beat the replacement Workers party candidate by a ten percentage point margin.
His formula was to focus on anti-corruption and conduct his campaign predominantly via social media. The use of YouTube, Facebook and, most importantly, the gargantuan WhatsApp groups that are part of daily life here enabled Bolsonaro to project different images to discrete sectors of society. Evangelical churchgoers got the faithful family man; gym bros and sertanejo country music fans were introduced to the gun-loving former military captain; the business world was presented with an anti-communist crusader.
Now, however, with spiralling inflation and a disastrous handling of the pandemic – some 685,000 Brazilians died – the President is finding it harder for his anti-politics message to cut through to all but hardened Bolsonaristas. Thirty-three million people face daily hunger. A senate inquiry into his failure to buy vaccines, in a country with almost no anti-vax movement, recommended criminal charges against him. Moreover, his old rival Lula is back in the running having been released from prison in 2019, corruption charges quashed. All polls are predicting the leftist, with his right-of-centre running partner, will win in the second-round run-off.
Drama enough? Not for Brazil. Bolsonaro has long been casting doubt over the integrity of the country’s electronic voting system, suggesting he will not recognise a vote that goes against him. Brazil, the fourth-largest democracy in the world, has had completely paperless elections since the new millennium, with almost no recorded cases of fraud. At one of a series of rallies across the country’s major cities last year, Bolsonaro said of the forthcoming fight: ‘I can’t participate in a farce like the one being sponsored by the Superior Electoral Tribunal.’ Calling a meeting of foreign diplomats in July, he repeated his claims concerning the electronic ballot system: ‘We still have time to solve the problem, with the participation of the armed forces.’ He says repeatedly: ‘Only God will oust me.’
